title: AI Create description: Chat with the AI coach to generate or refine a workout.

AI Create

The screen where you describe a workout in your own words and the AI turns it into a structured set of blocks. Free tier gets 8 generations per month; Pro is unlimited.

AI Create chat
Chat history at top, prompt input at bottom with import / image attachments.

The three input modes

  1. Text prompt

Type what you want. The more constraints, the better the result:

    • Duration ("20 minutes")
    • Equipment ("dumbbells only", "no equipment")
    • Focus ("upper body", "shoulders and core")
    • Intensity ("light recovery", "intermediate", "advanced")
    • Style ("Tabata", "EMOM", "tempo strength")
  2. Image attach

Tap the 📷 icon to attach a workout sheet, magazine clipping, or whiteboard photo. The AI extracts the blocks and asks you to confirm.

  3. PDF / text file attach

Tap to import a PDF or plain-text (.txt) workout — coach handouts, hotel gym sheets, notes exported from another app. The AI summarizes and proposes a block structure.

The conversation pattern

The AI returns a workout, then asks if you want to adjust. Useful follow-up phrases:

  • "Add a longer warm-up."
  • "Replace the burpees with mountain climbers."
  • "Make the work intervals shorter, more rounds."
  • "Cap total time at 25 minutes."
  • "Add a 60-second box breathing block at the end."

The AI rewrites and shows you the new version. Iterate until happy, then tap Save to My Library.

What the AI sees, and doesn't

Safety rails

The AI is instructed to follow ACSM and NSCA fitness guidelines. In practice that means:

  • Minimum warm-up of 5 minutes for any session over 15 minutes.
  • HIIT total session capped at 30 minutes including warm-up.
  • Work:rest ratios at most 1:1 for advanced users, 1:2–1:3 for beginners.
  • Strength rest periods of 60+ seconds for large muscle groups.
  • Refuses to design plyometrics for users who indicate joint issues.
  • Refuses to generate workouts containing breath-holding past safe thresholds.

If a prompt asks for something unsafe ("ignore pain", "max effort for 30 minutes straight", "hold breath 5 minutes") the AI declines and explains why.

Limits and quotas

  • Free tier: 8 generations / month. Image, PDF, and text file imports each count as one generation.
  • Pro: unlimited generations.
  • Imported PDFs are read up to the first 5 pages; PDF and text file content is capped at about 4,000 characters (roughly 1.5 pages of dense text). Longer documents are truncated from the end.
  • Per-session: up to 12 turns in a single AI Create conversation before you must start a new one (keeps the context window manageable and the responses fast).

When generation fails

Three failure modes you might see:

  • No internet — friendly message, offers to switch to manual create.
  • API error — retried once automatically, then offers manual fallback.
  • JSON parse error (rare) — RhythmFit retries with a stricter prompt. If that fails too, the conversation continues but the workout isn't saved — you can ask the AI to "try again with simpler output".
